Advocacy Day

Advocating for Talent Mobility on Capitol Hill

Don’t miss your opportunity to represent the talent mobility industry by advocating and educating U.S. congressional policymakers on critical issues in our field, such as the reinstatement of the moving tax expense deduction and expansion of the H-1B renewal pilot program.

In the run up to GWS 2024 in Washington, D.C., WERC is bringing together industry professionals for meetings with various Senate and House of Representatives offices on Tuesday, 22 October.

Attendees of Advocacy Day, sponsored by USILAW, will engage with congressional offices on a range of issues impacting talent mobility, including:

  • Reinstating the moving tax expense deduction in 2025;
  • Reforming and modernizing the U.S. employment-based immigration system;
  • Establishing a national comprehensive data security standard; and
  • Communicating the impact of the ongoing buyer broker litigation on the U.S. real estate industry.

Participants will be organized into groups alongside other industry professionals, and each group will have up to three meetings with staff members representing various House and Senate offices. WERC will schedule these meetings for each group, prioritizing geographic locations of attendees and members of committees with jurisdiction on key issues. During these meetings, attendees will share their feedback and perspectives on how specific legislative issues are impacting U.S. employers and their employee populations and how and why U.S. congressional policymakers can implement solutions to support mobile workforces.

Capacity for this year’s Advocacy Day is very limited, and registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Participation in Advocacy Day is not included as part of GWS 2024 registration and carries a separate registration fee to cover the costs associated with organizing Advocacy Day.  WERC members get preferred pricing, so if you are interested in becoming a member, please visit our membership page.

With the future of the moving tax expense deduction and other major issues impacting talent mobility being considered by the U.S. Congress over the next 20 months, your engagement and leadership are essential for supporting the future of our industry. Don’t miss your opportunity to ensure that your voice is heard on Capitol Hill! Register now to secure your spot before they fill up.
